AED is committed to solving critical social problems in the areas of health, education, youth development and the environment in the United States and throughout the world through education, training, social marketing, policy analysis.
Founded in 1961, AED is an independent, nonprofit organization committed to solving critical social problems in the U.S. and throughout the world through education, social marketing, research, training, policy analysis and innovative program design and management. Major areas of focus include health, education, youth development, and the environment.
AED was established as a nonprofit organization in 1961. Its founders, Alvin Eurich and Sidney Tickton, recognized the impact that high-quality research and analysis carried out by an independent organization had in promoting change in policies and programs.
Over the years, we moved from U.S. higher education management into instructional technology and then education reform in both the domestic and international arenas. We branched out further to utilize mass media for health communication in developing countries and used that experience to build expertise in environmental communication, social marketing and other disciplines.
Today, working throughout the United States and in 167 countries, AED draws on 40 years of experience in education, health, youth development, and the environment - building institutions, integrating disciplines and making a difference.
In all our work, AED is dedicated to improving people's lives by increasing knowledge and promoting democratic and humanitarian ideals.
Started with training program yet in 1994, since then as a contractor to USAID, AED/Armenia has been administering nearly 1,100 development programs to build human and institutional capacity in a broad range of fields, from local economic development and reconstruction to leadership for women and youth and civil society building.
